2021 SA Young Fundraiser of the Year: Alix Katala MFIA

What does it mean to you to be the State SA Young Fundraiser of the Year?
“To be both nominated and awarded the South Australian Young Fundraiser of the Year award is an incredibly proud achievement in my career. Not only this, but to be aligned with the FIA at this level reflects my passions for effective and ethical fundraising.”

How has winning this award impacted on your fundraising career, or how do you think it will in the future?
“For me it has certainly reaffirmed by values and direction for my fundraising career. In future I hope it continues to represent to other fundraisers, and supporters that I am responsible for cultivating, that I am honourable in my intentions to raise funds for the causes I work for.”

Would you encourage people to nominate someone for an award? Why?
“If you feel inspired or moved by a fundraiser in your network or community, I would encourage advocating for them and nominating them for an award; simply the nomination shows your appreciation for the hard work your fellow fundraisers do, but also inspires others to continue making a difference – it certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.”

“I feel honoured to be a recipient of an FIA award; FIA is incredibly important to me professionally as the peak body for fundraising in Australia. FIA embodies what we should all be trying to achieve within our positions across the industry, and being a part of the education and advocacy that FIA provides is extremely rewarding and satisfying.”
