Estate Management 101 for Fundraisers

Course Overview

Estate Management 101 will provide you with essential knowledge and practical tools to help you get started or improve your Estate Management process. This program will cover the key steps needed to effectively manage the process from notification to closure of a bequest with examples and exercises to illustrate best practice. 

You will gain an understanding of the will and the nature of the gift in Will, effective communication with key individuals such as executors and solicitors, knowing your rights as the beneficiary and working cooperatively with other charity beneficiaries, assessing the financial outcomes and making projects, as well as other key aspects of estate management.

If you are a fundraiser new to the Estate Management process or perhaps you have the added responsibility of estates within your fundraising role then this comprehensive workshop is for you.

  • Fundraisers involved with Gifts in Wills fundraising
  • CEOs and Heads of Fundraising overseeing Gifts in Wills
  • NFP staff who are involved with receiving a bequest.

  • FIA Code 4.5 Conduct towards Donors by ensuring appropriate security measures are in place to protect donor information at all times.
  • FIA Code 4.10 Conduct towards Donors by maintaining an appropriate professional relationship with the donor in connection with any donation or bequest.

Full participation in Estate Management 101 is applicable for up to 6.0 continuing education points in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.

After extensive corporate experience, in the US and Australia, Maureen has worked within Bequest and Estate Administration at Australian Red Cross, The Heart Foundation and RSPCA. Bequest Assist now provides both outsourced Estate Management services and/or software to a number of Australian charities as well as information on Estate management through very popular webinars.
