Claire Hughes MFIA

Finalist of

Young Fundraiser or the Year 2019

Claire Hughes is known for building strong relationships with supporters, stakeholders and communities. As the community fundraising assistant in her native Scotland for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity (GCHC), she successfully organised peer to peer initiatives and community events. Claire built skills solely managing the high-profile GCHC Dinner and developed successful new third-party events. She ensured donors stayed long term and delivered compelling presentations to encourage support for GCHC.

In Australia, she has worked at Mater Foundation, supporting mass participation campaigns like the International Women’s Day Fun Run. Now a fundraising manager at Legacy Brisbane, Claire has significantly grown Legacy’s supporter base with her work on campaigns like ANZAC Day’s ‘Do More Than Remember’ and the Canungra Combat Challenge (C3).

For C3, Claire generated a 100% acquisition rate and developed robust participant journeys/ engagement processes with participants raising double the budgeted income. Thanks to Claire, Legacy is undertaking more contemporary fundraising, attracting younger supporters and raising more vital funds to support their clientele. Claire also exceeded targets/objectives on the annual Legacy Week campaign and charity ball.

A keen volunteer, Clare has raised thousands of dollars fundraising for events like Childreach International’s Kilimanjaro trek and the Oxfam Trailwalker. She is currently studying for her CFRE.
